These are a lovely collection of images! I'm just curious about the Sikh faith- what is it that you believe? :) If you don't mind, of course!

Really thank you! (: For me the Sikh faith means a lot, ecspecially in my daily life. It is a really emotional relationship kind of. Yes, it might sound weird, but this feeling is really hard to express in words.

The sikhs believe in one God, and we also believe that one God is within everyone. Each and every living creature on this planet. Sikhism began(born) as a reaction for how the situation in India was at the time when it was much influenced by the castesystem. The first Guru, Guru Nanak Dev ji didn’t like the idea of castesystem, cause that wasn’t how it was supposed to be. Guru Nanak wanted people to know that nobody was better than anybody else by class, race or money. Eveyone has to eyes to see, one mouth to eat with, and to ears to listen with. We are all people, than how can somebody become better by class when we are all equal within Gods eyes? Guru means a teacher. The word Guru stands for, Gu(dark) and ru(light). The Guru takes you from dark to light. The meaning is a lot more deeper than this, though. We also have holy scriptures, called Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. After the first Guru, Guru Nanak Dev ji - it came 9 other Gurus who did forward Guru Nanak Dev jis message to mankind. Before the last Guru was martyred, he said that from that day on Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji will be the sikhs only Guru now and forever. The holy scriptures are hymns written by the Gurus and several others.

The sikhs basically learns to be a good human being. To serve humanity, and help others in need. Do free work(like help somebody in the Gurduara serving food(Gurduara=Sikhs temple) and to remember God and be thankful for what you have got in life. (:

You may have noticed that we don’t cut our hair. That is somehow you can recognize if it is a sikh or not. We believe that God has created you beautiful like it is, and when you cut your hair or change anything with you - it means you don’t accept the way God has created you.

I hope this gave you some insight about the Sikh faith (: And if you have any more questions, I will gladly answer! (;

This is Mr. Singh. He owns the liquor store by my house. He made this sign to answer people that want to pick fights with him about his heritage. Apparently it happens all the time.

sigh.
